Nick Dukas – Wrap You Up For Christmas

Chicago, IL (December 17th, 2019) I must say – it’s beginning to sound a lot like Christmas – and swing band singer/songwriter Nick Dukas is doing his part to ring in this holiday cheer. Nick’s the award winning artist who recently won another Global Music Awards silver medal (in total he’s earned one Bronze and five Silver medals for his work). When you take a listen and hear the high caliber level of Dukas’ songs you’ll undoubtedly understand why.

Wrap You Up For Christmas is a sweet little holiday season duet. He gets some strong support on this melody from Jyn Morrison and Anthony Little. For the first sixteen bars of the tune it’s just a grand piano, Nick and Jyn. Then the big band comes in, and just like that announcer you hear at a horserace track says, “They’re off!” The vocal harmonies are as tasty as a hot cup of marshmallow topped cocoa stirred with a candy cane and the brass parts are stacked like presents under the Christmas tree. This yummy yuletide tune has “future Christmas classic” written all over it from beginning to end. It’s now the festive season and Mr. Dukas and company hit all the high notes on this nifty Noel number.

Kudos goes to the rhythm section’s performance on Wrap You Up For Christmas (from the CND label). The bass and drums keep it subtle and on the down low, like a slow burning evergreen scented candle, which allows the vocals to sparkle like the multicolored blinking lights on the fir tree come Christmas Eve. After several verses and choruses the band lets it rip for a sixteen measure solo break, and then Ms. Morrison and Mr. Dukas lead us back for another serving of some more red hot swinging stanzas. It makes you feel kind of like the surprised recipient of a long, deep, delicious kiss beneath the mistletoe.

This is just one of the great compositions included on the Nick Dukas’ Through Their Eyes collection of Christmas carols.
